"ಶಿಕ್ಷಣ ಮನುಷ್ಯನನ್ನು ಇತರ ಜೀವಿಗಳಿಂದ ವಿಭಿನ್ನ ಮತ್ತು ವಿಶಿಷ್ಟವಾಗಿಸಿದೆ. ಆದ್ದರಿಂದಲೇ ಪ್ರಾಜ್ಞರು ನುಡಿದಿರುವುದು "ವಿದ್ಯಾ ಧನಂ ಸರ್ವ ಧನಪ್ರಧಾನಮ್" ಎನ್ನುವುದಾಗಿ. ಅಂತಹ ವಿದ್ಯೆಯನ್ನು ಪಡೆಯಲು ಉತ್ತಮವಾದ ಗುರು ಮತ್ತು ಗುರುಕುಲಗಳು ದೊರೆಯಲಿ ಎನ್ನುವುದು ಪ್ರತಿಯೊಬ್ಬ ವಿದ್ಯಾಕಾಂಕ್ಷಿಯ ಮಹದಾಸೆ. ಆ ನಿಟ್ಟಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಶಾಮಿಲಿಯಂತಹ ಕಾಲೇಜು ದೊರೆತದ್ದು ನಿಜಕ್ಕೂ ನನ್ನ ಭಾಗ್ಯವೆಂದೆ ನಾನು ಭಾವಿಸುತ್ತೇನೆ. ಏಕೆಂದರೆ ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಯೊಬ್ಬ ಏಳ್ಗೆ ಸಾಧಿಸಲು ಆತನಿಗೆ ಶಿಕ್ಷಣ - ಮಾರ್ಗದರ್ಶನ - ಪ್ರೋತ್ಸಾಹ ಇವು ಮೂರು ಅಗತ್ಯ. ಇವೆಲ್ಲವನ್ನೂ ಕಿಂಚಿತ್ತೂ ಕೊರತೆಯಾಗದಂತೆ ಗಿಡವೊಂದಕ್ಕೆ ನೀರೆರೆದು ಪೋಷಿಸಿದಂತೆ ಪೋಷಿಸಿ ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳ ಸರ್ವತೋಮುಖ ಏಳ್ಗೆಗಾಗಿ ಶ್ರಮಿಸುವ ಶಿಕ್ಷಕವರ್ಗದ ಅಪಾರ ಕಾಳಜಿಯನ್ನು ನಾನು ಇಲ್ಲಿ ಕೇವಲ ಕಂಡದ್ದಷ್ಟೇ ಅಲ್ಲ, ಸ್ವತಃ ಅನುಭವಿಸಿದ್ದೇನೆ. ಅರ್ಥೈಸಿಕೊಂಡದ್ದನ್ನು ಚಿಂತನೆಗೆ ಒಳಪಡಿಸುವ ಪಾಠಶೈಲಿ, ಸಂಶಯಗಳನ್ನು ಕ್ಷಣಾರ್ಧದಲ್ಲಿ ನಿವಾರಿಸಿ ಇನ್ನಷ್ಟು ಪ್ರಶ್ನಿಸುವ ಮನೋಭಾವವನ್ನು ಉತ್ತೇಜಿಸುವ ಗುಣ, ಪಠ್ಯ ಮತ್ತು ಪಠ್ಯೇತರ ವಿಷಯಗಳೆರಡಕ್ಕೂ ಸಮಾನ ಮಾನ್ಯತೆ ಹಾಗೂ ಪ್ರೋತ್ಸಾಹವನ್ನು ನೀಡುವ ಅನನ್ಯ ಕಾಳಜಿಯನ್ನು ನಾನು ಇಲ್ಲಲದೆ ಬೇರೆಲ್ಲೂ ಕಾಣೆ. ಒಮ್ಮೆ ವೇದಿಕೆಯ ಈಚೆಯಿಂದಾಚೆಗೆ ಸುಳಿಯಲೂ ಎದೆಗುಂದುತ್ತಿದ್ದ ನನ್ನಂತವನನ್ನೂ ವೇದಿಕೆಯ ಮೇಲೇರುವಂತೆ ಮಾಡಿ ನನ್ನ ತೊದಲು ನುಡಿಗಳಿಗೂ "ಭೇಷ್" ಎಂದು ಪ್ರೋತ್ಸಾಹಿಸಿ ನಮ್ಮ ಏಳ್ಗೆಯಲ್ಲಿಯೇ ತಮ್ಮ ಖುಷಿಯ ಕಾಣುವ ಮಾತೃಹೃದಯಿ ಶಿಕ್ಷಕರು ಇನ್ನೆಲ್ಲಿ ದೊರೆಯುವರು?. ನಿಜಕ್ಕೂ ನಾನಿಲ್ಲಿ ಕಳೆದ ಪ್ರತಿ ಕ್ಷಣವೂ ನನ್ನ ಜೀವನದ ನೆನಪಿನ ಸರಮಾಲೆಗೆ ಸೇರ್ಪಡೆಯಾದ ಅಮೂಲ್ಯ ರತ್ನಗಳಿದ್ದಂತೆ. ಶೈಕ್ಷಣಿಕ ಜೀವನದಲ್ಲಿ ಅತಿ ಕಡಿಮೆ ಸಮಯ ಕಳೆಯುವ ಪದವಿಪೂರ್ವ ಶಿಕ್ಷಣದ ದಿನಗಳನ್ನು ಜೀವನದುದ್ದಕ್ಕೂ ನೆನಪಿನಂಗಳದಲ್ಲಿ ಚಿರಸ್ಥಾಯಿಯಾಗಿರುವಂತೆ ಪ್ರೀತಿಗೈದು ಮನದಾಳದಲ್ಲಿ ಮೊಹರಾಗಿರುವಂತೆ ಅಚ್ಚೊತ್ತಿರುವ ನನ್ನ ಪ್ರೀತಿಯ ಶಾಮಿಲಿ ಕಾಲೇಜಿಗೆ ನನ್ನ ಹೃದಯಂತರಾಳದ ವಂದನೆಗಳು."

"I feel very unfortunate because I completed PU in just one year as a COVID batch student. When I first joined Shyamili, I was very scared. Many people said that the science stream is very tough, but I didn’t feel that way. Thanks to Shyamili College, where all the faculty members are excellent, I never felt that college was a burden, not even for a single day. I enjoyed my first year along with my studies.

I was fortunate to receive free education for both years, which I deeply appreciate. The principal, staff, and non-teaching faculty were all like friends, and they were very helpful. Whenever I think of Shyamili, the first thing that comes to mind is the lunch they provided for free—delicious and varied. I still remember those meals fondly.

I have to mention one thing: during the online classes, I didn’t have a mobile phone and couldn’t afford to buy one. I informed the principal, and he allowed me to come to college and attend the classes physically. I am very thankful to him.

The college prepared us well for the board exams, with 3 to 4 rounds of revision. However, the exams were canceled due to COVID. Nevertheless, they provided a strong foundation for my future, which is helping me now in my engineering studies. I was a PCMB student, and Stancy Ma’am made the very tough subject of biology into the easiest one. "
